Houston Tops On Time

USA Today reports Houston Bush Intercontinental Airport landed the top spot amongst all USA airports having an 80% on time performance during August.
JFK and LGA Airports in New York ranked at near the bottom of the list.
Those long USA delays that passengers endure for takeoff, now called “taxi-out waits,” (that term sounds like a second cousin to “out call”), was won in August by an ExpressJet flight that left the gate in Portland, Maine at 14:17 PM, and finally departed for Newark at 20:07.
Art At IAH
At IAH as part of an aggressive and interesting art collection “The Video Ring: by “The Art Guys” was commissioned by Continental Airlines.
The work consists of 80 color monitors with video playing on all screens, synchronized to create an 80 channel frame synchronizer programmed to play so that there is an offset of 3 frames per player.
This gives the installation motion with the images seeming to rotate around the ring at a fast and continuous rate. This has created a smooth continuous video for travelers to enjoy as they walk through the airport terminal.
And not a Geico commercial in sight!

Quote Of The Day

"I think it's fair to state that in the history of aviation," Naresh Goyal said, "no airline has ever launched three new long-haul routes in a span of three months.
“I am immensely proud of the dedication of the Jet Airways team that has made this possible."
The Jet Airways CEO spoke as India's Jet Airways said that it would commence daily service from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport via Brussels to India on October 28.
On August 5, Jet Airways launched its first ever transatlantic service with daily flights to and from New York's Newark Liberty International Airport.
On September 5, the airline also inaugurated service from India to Toronto.

Fraport Gears Up For Oktoberfest

The scene from last year’s event shows (L-R) Hans-Georg Emmert, Fraport senior manager sales, Julia Schulte-Terboven, a former Fraport Cargo Services marketing manager, Klaus Klein, a Fraport exports manager, and Anne Smirr.

While Oktoberfest in Munich has wound down for another year, the Fraport Cargo Services and Fraport Aviation Sales Departments will soon celebrate the year with an Oktoberfest of their own.
About 350 guests, including customers and business partners - like airline representatives and their cargo teams – can look forward to Bavarian food and beer, and entertainment including a band October 18.
The party, in Walldorf, close to Frankfurt Airport, is an opportunity for the cargo industry to get together and meet business partners in an informal environment, said Anne Smirr, sales manager at Fraport Cargo Services.
