Price Fix Probe Continues
Word last week that Emirates SkyCargo rejected charges of collusion and is prepared to stand up and fight in an Australian court that for some reason selected 9/11 as a return date, can only be greeted as good news amongst air cargo industry people and airlines that have been sucked into defense, deals and increasing fines levied by ambitious prosecutors almost everywhere.

Technology developments in the past few decades have significantly transformed the way people live and communicate, and the way businesses operate across the globe.
Of the 6.5 billion people in the world, about one half have mobile phones and almost a quarter have internet access. Arguably, the pace of change continues to accelerate.
Chennai Works For Martinair
When Dutch freighter specialist Martinair Cargo landed a Boeing 747-400 ERF in Chennai on July 2 for the first time, it was not an easy decision – especially during a slowdown. But as Harm Winkeler (Vice President, Asia Pacific) of Martinair Cargo put it, “we take pride in calling ourselves the ‘Can Do Crew’ and with good reason."

Stille Nacht Ahead For FRA
What is going on right now in Frankfurt could be a real game changer for the air cargo business in Germany and Europe as well. Although the final determination is yet to be made, Frankurt International Airport, Europe's top air cargo gateway appears to be on the way to become a zone of tranquility and calmness at night after October 2011.
Uli Fresh Air For TIACA
Although today much of that has changed, any history of air cargo should include the simple fact that even now the glam of this business is somehow still reserved (at least in the imagination if not in the reality) for the airline passenger business.

Safi Outsources Cargo
Full belly-hold compartments on the way to Afghanistan but not a single pound of air freight on outbound flights. That is the sober day-to-day reality for Afghani carrier Safi Airways. The stiff and extremely time consuming security controls are too big an obstacle for getting this business to a common practice like almost anywhere else on this globe. In Afghanistan it needs days if not weeks until shipments get a green light for being loaded on board of an aircraft and flown out.

IATA Bounce Big Beat Of 2010
(Geneva Exclusive)—
There are all kinds of bounces in the world we live in.
The Business-Man’s Bounce refers to that peculiar type of ballroom dancing that is seen at fancy dress banquet dinners and weddings as men who might prefer to be anywhere else twirl about the floor biting their lower lip.
In sports a “Jersey Bounce,” is the way a ball moves unexpectedly or ricochets off a wall.
  What Lies Ahead For Vietnam
In the past two years, Asia's junior tiger has been wrestling with a number of problems. After run-away inflation in 2008 and a slump in growth in the first half of 2009, stabilization now seems to be around the corner, though.      Nonetheless, challenges remain - especially on the fiscal front - and they are structural in nature. If Vietnam succeeds in addressing these challenges, its positive medium-term outlook will be enhanced.

Rising Economic Importance Of Energy & Commodities

Energy supply and demand is likely to represent the biggest challenge of the 21st century. More than any other issue, it is at the mercy of global economics, geopolitics, war, fiscal policy, and the battle between growth and sustainability. Beyond financial services, energy is probably the most global of industries and the industry with the broadest impact on others. All of these factors result in an uncertain and changeable future.

Some Positive Thoughts About India

Boeing, despite the continuing downturn and reports that aircraft are being parked and airlines are bleeding cash, continues to remain bullish on India.
In the current market outlook unveiled recently by its Senior Vice President, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Dr. Dinesh Keskar—who has since been posted (upped) to New Delhi as President, Boeing India—the aircraft manufacturer sees a quicker market recovery in the country’s aviation industry fortunes than elsewhere.

Rough Buck Charters Into Kabul
Dateline Kabul—
ABC had just off loaded its first B747-200 charter into Kabul July 14 saying it will make a scheduled stop here every Tuesday, meaning they have a customer.
