Fraport Group Cargo Up 7%

Dr. Stefan Schulte, CFO Fraport AG during press conference Wednesday (November 9).

“I am convinced there will be growing demand for point to point flights for 200 or so passengers–and we will need the big 550 seat aircraft for hub to hub traffic as well.”
Fraport Group’s Chief Financial Officer Dr. Stefan Schulte speaking as the airport operator delivered financials for the first nine months of 2005, did not rule out the possibility that Fraport might acquire a financial interest in Lufthansa following announcement recently that Lufthansa now holds about 4.95% of Fraport or about 4.5 million shares.
In a room still buzzing on the heels of the A380 visit to FRA last week, while wondering about the enormous hangar being built to host the giant aircraft in Germany, Dr. Schulte was all smiles, joking easily with reporters, and why not?
Fraport Group delivered a profit of EUR 136 million on revenues that grew by 5.1% to EUR 1.562.6 million, a sensational 14.6 % over the same period in 2004.
Fraport Group that includes Frankfurt Hahn, Hannover Airport, the relatively small airport at Saarbrucken, Antalya in Turkey and Lima/Peru has seen business sky rocket this year with aviation revenues up 12.2% to EUR 524.7 million; retail and properties EUR 276.1 minus 0.3 %, (new construction impact) ground handling EUR 468.3 a plus of 2.8 % and external activities – EUR 293.5 m an increase of 2.2 %.
The group handled 1.713.456 tons of cargo, up 7%. Notably Frankfurt-Hahn airport increased its throughput by 15.9 % to 163.327 tons.

Atlanta Launches Hong Kong All-Cargo Service

Cathay Pacific said it moved 103,962 tons of cargo in October, up 14.8 percent compared to 2004, driven in part by lively business in and out of Shanghai.

Elsewhere Hong Kong export volumes increased 5.7% in October figures issued by Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (HACTL).

A Cathay 747-400 F operates three times a week starting November 19, 2005, departing from Hong Kong every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday serving Atlanta with a stop at DFW.
“The addition of Cathay Pacific all-cargo service to Hong Kong links top USA shippers in Atlanta and the entire Southeastern USA to expanding world trade,” said Robert Kennedy Manager Marketing & Intergovernmental Affairs.
“We look forward to growing air trade at all levels across Asia/Pacific, as we welcome Cathay Pacific Cargo next week.”

Xinzheng Zhengzhou New China Cargo Gateway

Recently as a AN-124 touched down at Xinzheng International Airport of Zhengzhou, a milestone in the history of the airport was recorded.
Zhengzhou, capital city of China’s Henan province, plays an important role in Middle China.
Its location, history, and affluent resources make it a traditional transportation center of Middle China, and a famous territorial business center.
Xinzheng International Airport of Zhengzhou (institution code: ZHCC, ICAO), was designated the 21st international airport of China in 2000.
The field plays an important role in Henan’s aviation industry, and today also serves as the base airport of China Southern Airlines’ subsidiary in Henan.
The AN-124 moves as much 103 tons, and the gateway has enough traffic to keep the big bird busy.
As the flight departed, first AN-124 exports included mechanical equipment and electronic products from Shanghai and Tianjin flown on to Leipzig, Germany, making it the first nonstop Zhengzhou-Leipzig all-cargo plane in the history of Xinzheng Airport.
But the pace of business for air cargo has been steady since April 17th, 2005, when Xinzheng International began scheduled cargo flights with all-cargo planes of all types including DC10F, B747-200F, A310, A300 and now AN-124 calling at the gateway regularly.
Gross volume of exports through Xinzheng total more than 7.3 thousand tons through June 30.
Cargo arrives from all the major production bases of China, including Shanghai, Beijing, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Shandong, Hubei, Shanxi, etc.,and are flown onward to Madrid, Bombay and Calcutta, Dhaka, Luxemburg and most other major airports of the world.
Xinzhen Zhengzhou is fast becoming one of the major airports through which commodities of China are transported everywhere.
But with the arrival of AN-124, Xinzhen International Airport of Zhengzhou feels that the word has been set that this is one gateway with the ability and experience to handle the largest freight airplane, while providing exports of Middle China a new and more convenient access to the world, which surely enhance the trade and communication between Middle and West China and the World.
Since April 17, 2005, gross value of exports through ZhenZhou is put at more than USD $10 billion.
Commodities, such as communication equipment, textiles, and petroleum pipes are driving new export growth.
The successful operation of AN-124 has extended the world image of Xinzheng International Airport of Zhengzhou, which management hopes will raise interest of more international air cargo companies to serve this airport.
