One
of the nicest, smartest and best air cargo people we have met in our
31 years in this business, Peter Yap who is Regional Director and
Area Manager
for Asia Pacific for Air Bridge will retire from the company at the
end of January 2006.
Stan Wraight, Vice President of Volga Dnepr said: "Without
doubt, ABC would be nowhere in China
without Peter's leadership. “He is a true icon in this
business."
Peter Yap joined Air Bridge Cargo in 2003 after pioneering air cargo
services' sales management in the Asia-Pacific region.
Peter served as top cargo executive at China Airlines cargo where
he put that carrier’s freighter program on the map.
Later at Atlas Air with his friend Mike Chowdry, Mr. Yap helped build
Atlas in China.
Robert Song succeeds Peter as Regional Director based in Shanghai.

Power
On To Miami Mail December 5-6 Despite some rough weather
in Miami, Florida which caused cancellation of its premier air cargo show,
Air Cargo Americas earlier this autumn (see next item), the power is up
and all indications are full speed ahead as The
World Mail & Express Americas conference in Miami shapes
up as 2005’s biggest air cargo event for the Americas and Caribbean.
Organized by Triangle Management Services,
based in the UK, WMX has been in business at locations around the world
since 1988. The Miami event will be the 23rd in the series; Set to held
at the Sheraton Bal Harbor resort in Miami, December 5-6 the show organizer
Triangle Management of London says that a wide audience including national
post offices, parcel companies, couriers, major international customers,
mailing houses, consultants and suppliers to the industry will be in evidence
at Miami.
Paul Jackson, who masterminds WMX (seen here earlier this year in Dubai
with his son Neil, who also leads the way at Triangle) told FT: “As
the most important annual mail and express conference in the region, this
summit gives delegates the opportunity to meet fellow industry leaders from
across the continent. “They will be able to strengthen existing
bonds and build new relationships with partners and customers, as well as
hearing the views on the current marketplace from the region’s leading
mail and express executives.”
Outside the conference hall, the refreshment breaks and poolside dinner
will provide a more relaxed backdrop for talking over the issues of the
day with colleagues.
The breaks will also offer the opportunity to browse the exhibition stands
of the region’s leading suppliers.
A list of those who have already booked to attend in Miami, the full program
for the show and the online registration form can all be found at www.triangle.eu.com/americas.
Alternatively, anyone wishing to attend the conference can call the event
team on +44 (0) 870 950 7900. Elsewhere comes word
that Air Cargo Americas,
the trade event that was supposed to be held in Miami during late October
but was blown away at show time by Hurricane Wilma, has been rescheduled.
New show dates are March 1-3 2006
at Sheraton Hotel 777 NW 72 Avenue Miami, Florida 33126.
