Next Stop Kuala Lumpur

   FIATA has announced that the next stop for the FIATA Annual World Congress is Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, October 4-8, 2017.
   In the picture during this week’s Annual Congress in Dublin is (second from left) Malaysian Minister of Transport Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai, with (from left) Immediate Past President Francesco Parisi, FIATA Fellow Geoffrey Arend, and FIATA Treasurer Jean-Claude Delen.
   The Minister told the group that “Malaysia is eager and looking forward to welcoming FIATA to Kuala Lumpur in 2017.”
   “The government is working to transform Malaysia into a developed, high-income nation, and has earmarked logistics as one of the drivers of this initiative.
   “I am looking forward to FIATA in KL next year because of its expertise and dedication to training, and the further developing and enhancing skills of freight forwarders is second to none.
   “The Malaysia National Logistics Task Force is in place.
   “As Minister of Transport, I am championing the effort to bring together all segments of the supply chain.
   “Malaysia is a maritime nation; we are also a very diversified, multi-racial people.
   “We are growing fast, the Bhat is stable, and we are ready to move and grow even further.
   “Malaysia is a small nation, but our ports rank number twelve in the world.
   “Our working relationship with China includes a half-dozen ports and as the cooperation grows we need to increase our effort to attract new people into logistics while driving education of our logistics sector even further.”
