Circle In The Square |
As we departed the beautiful 600-year-old Haus Zum Rüden dinner palace and walked back to our hotel through the darkened streets of Zurich last Saturday evening, our small band (Francesco Parisi, Robert and Ginger Voltmann, and Stephen “Steve the Aussie” Morris) came upon a quiet cobblestone square with a circular fountain bubbling into the night. “They often have outdoor events here in nice weather and utilize this fountain and pool as a centerpiece by dispensing wine from the fountain,” Robert said. We pondered over Europeans fountains and with proper homage to Rome’s Trevi, snapped this picture of Bob and Ginger, very La Dolce Vita. We think appreciating fountains is one of the milder pleasures of life; looking at this picture makes another point quite nicely. It doesn’t matter where you are: you are there, and there you are! So at your next tradeshow, get out and see something local. The effort can bring into sharper focus all the folks networking and delivering speeches in the hotel. Take a walk of discovery. Later on in our evening adventure, when at 2300 hours our small band dropped into a local, well-stocked wine bar for a nightcap, the owner tossed us and our romantic notions out the door saying, “On Saturdays we close at 11.” Ah, Zurich… Another Opening, Another Show This week (April 5-8), Robert, who serves
