A Good Face On Air Cargo

Liesbeth Oudkerk

The first flight took to the skies today, marking the inauguration of DSV - Global Transport and Logistics’s partnership with Qatar Airways Cargo. This collaboration introduces flights from Huntsville, USA to Doha, Qatar effective September 7, 2023 with direct cargo loading and management handled by DSV, and full commitment and lift by Qatar Airways Cargo.
The route, named by DSV as the “Gateway Star”, will see twice weekly Boeing 777 freighters operating from Felipe Ángeles International Airport in Mexico to Port of Huntsville - Huntsville International Airport and arriving in New Doha International Airport (for Qatar Civil Aviation Authority) via Luxembourg. The freighters from Huntsville will operate on Thursdays and Sundays every week.
But that may not be the only story here.
Guillaume Halleux, top cargo executive left the airline last month (August) and so far we are the only media that has reported the departure of the man who was key to delivering QR to the top of the air cargo heap worldwide.
More than 21,000 readers and well wishers of our coverage in LinkedIn underscore Guillaume's great work.
We wonder what’s up at Qatar Cargo management ahead?
Maybe the presser today with DSV gives a clue?
Ms. Liesbeth Oudkerk, Senior Vice President Cargo Sales and Network Planning who joined QR Cargo late last year was quoted September 8: “We are excited by this new partnership with DSV. This strategic initiative not only expands DSV’s market reach, but also establishes a direct scheduled service between Huntsville to the Middle East and beyond. The route will see twice weekly Boeing 777 freighters offering 200 tons of capacity per week. With the addition of Huntsville, Qatar Airways Cargo’s network in the Americas now increases to 22 destinations.”
     Stay tuned . . .
