MSC Brings It Home In USA |
 On
April 22 the remarkable journey of Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC)
will be the subject of a talk by Brittney Knisley Lawler, Branch Manager
of MSC based in Charleston South Carolina.The event, sponsored by The Dante Alighieri Society Charleston is being held at Gage Hall 4 Archdale Street Charleston. Refreshments will be available before and during the presentation, which will begin about 6:30. Tickets and more information here. MSC was launched from Naples in 1970 with just one vessel, and today is the world's largest container shipping company by both fleet size and cargo capacity, boasting a fleet of over 760 vessels. Owners of the largest container vessels afloat, the company also owns cruise ships, ferries, and rail freight lines in Europe. MSC today plays a major role in international transport, at over 500 ports around the world and the Port of Charleston is a major U.S. location for the company. In a related development earlier this year MSC North America headquartered in New York City where its cruise division operated five weekly sailings during this past winter announced it was building a big new passenger cruise ship terminal in Miami, where it has operated for the past 25 years. MSC said it would begin operations in Galveston, Texas in 2025. |
