A Kind Face For Air Cargo
Uli Ogiermann
Up pops Uli Ogiermann who departed Doha last year after a great run with Qatar Cargo. Although the location has changed for this steadfast, consummate all-pro cargo professional, the weight of responsibility has not.
“Yes, I am now with the VD Group,” said Uli from his offices in London, “in charge of airline results for the Group.
“Nice change to be based in London,” Uli smiled.
“I am working on several projects, including start up of a new cargo carrier to be based at Leipzig Halle,” he added.
Uli’s kind face, and always welcoming and expansive approach, has quietly and with great determination impacted several decades of air cargo.
Mr. Ogiermann served in top management at Cargolux and later he led the team that built Qatar Airways Cargo from the ground up.
Through it all, Uli has always found time to give back to the industry, including his term serving as Chairman of TIACA.
Now in addition to focusing on the fortunes of VD Group, which includes ABC, Cargologic Air and Volga Dnepr, Uli is at it again putting together all the components to field some main deck B737-400s into a regional express carrier called CargoLogicGermany.
The carrier will be based at Leipzig Halle where parent Volga Dnepr operates a big maintenance base.
“All in a day’s work,” Uli smiles, as he departs on another adventure.
